The current <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/labour-party\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Labour<\/a> administration later confirmed the cash and renamed the scheme \u2018Pride in Place\u2019, with many of the same objectives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">A special meeting of Bolton council\u2019s cabinet heard from assistant director of development and regeneration, Paul Whittingham, who said the implementation and priorities of the scheme would be led by the community.He said: \u201cThis plan represents a long process but does create the opportunity to look at the next 10 years.<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Bury<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Developer argues fields it wants to build houses on \u2018only make weak contribution\u2019 to green belt<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">Plans for a small housing estate on green belt land on the outskirts of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/bury\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bury<\/a> have been submitted. Holcombe Brook based Cornell Group is seeking permission in principle to build nine homes on grassed land at the junction of Bentley Lane and Walmersley Old Road.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">The plot borders the M66 motorway and consists of greenfield land with an area of allotments to the southern boundary, with a number of outbuildings and structures. The larger portion of the site was previously been in agricultural use.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">A former quarry lies to the north west boundary, which is now a mature woodland there is residential development bordering along Bentley Lane and Walmersley Old Road.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Six-storey block of 40 flats planned at prime town centre site<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">Plans for a block of 40 flats at a town centre site have been submitted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">The six-storey block is planned for the site of the former Wellington pub on Stand Lane in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/radcliffe\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Radcliffe<\/a>, close to the junction with Pilkington Way. The block, named on the plans as New Mellor House, would contain a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments and the plans also include creation of a new parking court and provision of landscaping.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/0_mellor-house.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The block is proposed for the junction of Stand Lane and Pilkington Way<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">Documents in support of the application, by Candy Investments Ltd said the proposals were \u2018a fully affordable high-quality scheme\u2019. A design and access statement said the site would be accessed via Mellor Street, off Stand Lane to allow vehicles to access the site from the rear, while pedestrians would access the development via a separate entrance on Stand Lane.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">The report, said: \u201cThe site comprises of a main plateau area which sits directly at the junction of Pilkington Way, Stand Lane and New Road, offering a key waymarking point on the route into Radcliffe.<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Manchester<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">The next EIGHT high streets set to receive a major makeovers have been confirmed by Manchester council<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">Town hall bosses have promised to revamp Manchester\u2019s suburban centres with hundreds of millions of pounds going on new public spaces, shops, and homes in-and-around existing high streets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">Last month, final plans were confirmed for <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/gorton\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Gorton<\/a> and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/moston\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Moston<\/a>, with \u00a360m earmarked for the former\u2019s <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/hyde-and-longdendale\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Hyde<\/a> Road heartland, set to create a new food hall and 400 new homes. It was formerly used as residence for the Sisters of the Cross and Passion. The Boarshaw Road site is no longer needed by the Roman Catholic order. Three two-bedroom apartments and seven one-beds are planned for the site \u2013 a 20 minute walk from the centre of Middleton.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">Plans for thousands of new homes and a major public park are edging closer to becoming reality as part of a regeneration project spanning Manchester and Salford.<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Salford and Manchester<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Plans for thousands of new homes and a major public park are edging closer to becoming reality as part of a regeneration project spanning Manchester and Salford.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">A development masterplan is expected to get the backing of both city councils next week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">It covers Strangeways and the Cambridge Industrial Estate in Broughton, as well as Bury New Road, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/cheetham-hill\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Cheetham Hill<\/a> Road, and Cheetham Park in Manchester.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">The blueprint includes 7,000 new homes \u2018across seven distinct neighbourhoods\u2019 alongside health facilities and a 60-acre public space in Salford set to be called Copper Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">It follows a public consultation where \u2018complex and mixed responses\u2019 to the plans surfaced, including some \u2018significant concerns\u2019 around potential issues such as flooding and traffic congestion. Salford council said the areas are facing other issues such as \u2018fragmented land ownership\u2019, but the masterplan aims to find \u2018long-term solutions\u2019 to overcome barriers to future growth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">Most people who responded to the consultation \u2018expressed strong support for regeneration of the area, describing development as long overdue and welcoming investment\u2019 according to a summary report.<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Tameside<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Huge new play park planned for vacant grassland in Greater Manchester<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">Vacant grassland in Hattersley may soon be transformed into a park that could become \u2018the central hub for play\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">A new play park including multi-use games area (MUGA), footpaths, cycle paths and play equipment has been promised in the vision for this corner of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/tameside\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Tameside<\/a>. The section of greenbelt land opposite the Hattersley <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/tesco\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Tesco<\/a> site, over Ashworth Lane, has been earmarked to bring in the much-needed facility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">It would sit next to a new housing and retail development currently under construction off the A560\/<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/stockport\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Stockport<\/a> Road. The southern part of the site is rectangular and comprises a former council depot which has been cleared to slab level.
