A prolific shop thief has been locked up for two weeks and banned from entering a Sutton Coldfield<\/a> shopping centre following a string of thefts.<\/p>\n

Kieran Brooks is now banned from Princess Alice Retail Park after the 21-year-old was convicted of 21 offences including 18 shop thefts.<\/p>\n

Brooks, who had been wanted by police for theft, was arrested earlier this week at the Princess Alice Drive retail park.<\/p>\n

Brooks, of Parkeston Crescent, Birmingham, was jailed for two weeks and slapped with a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) when he appeared at Birmingham<\/a> Magistrates’ Court yesterday, November 6.<\/p>\n

The order means he cannot enter Princess Alice Retail Park or a shop on Kingstanding Road. He faces a return to prison if he does.<\/p>\n

Neighbourhood Inspector Hayley Thompson said: “Our officers work closely with business owners and staff every day to prevent shop theft, as we know that it’s a concern for the local community.<\/p>\n

“We’re completely committed to tackling the crime and bringing offenders to justice.<\/p>\n

“A team effort this week has led to the conviction of a prolific thief.<\/p>\n

“A CBO reinforces that we will do everything in our power to protect retail workers and keep our shopping areas safe.<\/p>\n

“I would always encourage local retailers o report thefts to us, and raise any concerns with our officers.”<\/p>\n

A West Midland Police spokesperson added: “We’re working hard to tackle shop theft offences across the West Midlands.<\/p>\n
