In a win for smaller-scope titles below the $70 price point, Mafia: The Old Country<\/a> publisher 2K has considered the PS5 game a success, having beaten its internal sales expectations.<\/p>\n

As part of its latest financial earnings call, where it was also confirmed GTA 6<\/strong> has been delayed<\/a> to November 2026, the company CEO Strauss Zelnick told The Game Business<\/a> that the title’s success proves there is a market for high-quality narrative experiences.<\/p>\n

He added: “What we suspected was confirmed, which is just… if you give consumers a great narrative experience that\u2019s a lot of fun, somewhat contained, and at a fair price, then you can have the perfect result.”<\/p>\n

Rather than launching for full price, Mafia: The Old Country is \u00a344.99 \/ $49.99 and provides a story-focused experience where the plot is the point. The open world is kept to a separate mode in the main menu, allowing the main story to tell its tale throughout multiple chapters.<\/p>\n

There’s speculation another entry in the series has already been greenlit, as per comments from a voice actor<\/a> in The Old Country. Hangar 13 “was approved for a sequel, for another Mafia game, which is very exciting”, said Isabella’s voice actor Carina Conti. This, combined with today’s comments, would suggest another Mafia game would aim for a similar scope.<\/p>\n

For now, the developer has confirmed The Old Country will receive additional content<\/a> in the form of a Free Ride mode, along with extra activities and gameplay interactions. This was announced back in August, and would be releasing “in the coming months”. It hasn’t materialised just yet, however.<\/p>\n
