A tranquil and leafy area of west London has been named as home to Britain\u2019s best high street by the property honchos at Knight Frank.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The estate agents analysed high streets across the UK, examining just how desirable they were to home buyers. According to Knight Frank, the most coveted areas were home to independent boutiques,\u00a0fitness studios,\u00a0artisan bakeries and a strong sense of community. Having all that on your doorstep sounds rather nice, doesn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n

The property company compiled its analysis to name Britain\u2019s five best high streets, with the top spot going to well-to-do southwest London enclave\u00a0Wimbledon Village<\/strong>!\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018Despite being in the capital, it truly offers a village-like feel \u2013 people greet each other in passing, and there\u2019s a real sense of community,\u2019 said\u00a0Sonia Cheng, an associate in Knight Frank\u2019s Wimbledon office.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wimbledon Village was able to clinch the number one ranking thanks to its winning mixture of green spaces,\u00a0cultural offerings and food and drink establishments. At Time Out, some of our favourite spots in SW19 include Wimbledon Common<\/a>,\u00a0a sprawling expanse of grassland, ponds and forest; the fascinating Wimbledon Museum<\/a>, packed with local history; and the bright and buzzy dim sum spot, Good Fortune Club<\/a>. Knight Frank also shouted out the \u2019hood for being home to a number of posh chains, including Gail\u2019s<\/a> and The Ivy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, living close to the Village does come at a cost. \u2018You can expect to pay around 30 percent more compared with some other parts of Wimbledon,\u2019 said Cheng.<\/p>\n

Out of Knight Frank\u2019s ranking of the five best high streets in the UK, the top three were all wealthy neighbourhoods in London. St John\u2019s Wood<\/a> came second, followed by Hampstead<\/a>\u00a0in third.\u00a0<\/p>\n
