A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after she was stabbed in an ‘unprovoked’ attack in Birmingham city centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The victim, aged in her 30s, was knifed on Smallbrook Queensway shortly before 9pm yesterday (November 7).<\/p>\n

She was rushed to hospital with a serious neck injury and remains in a critical condition this morning.<\/p>\n

A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested close to the scene.<\/p>\n

A West Midlands Police<\/a> spokesperson said: “A man is in custody after a stabbing in Birmingham<\/a> last night.<\/p>\n

“We were called to Smallbrook Queensway shortly before 9pm after reports of a stabbing.<\/p>\n

“A woman in her 30s was taken to hospital with a serious neck injury where she remains in a critical condition.<\/p>\n

“A man in his 20s was arrested close to the scene and is in custody at this time.<\/p>\n

“Our officers are at the scene carrying out enquiries as we try to establish the exact circumstances of what happened.”<\/p>\n

Detective Inspector James Nix added: “We believe this was an unprovoked attack and are working to understand why it happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will have officers in the area today to continue our investigation and provide reassurance.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe’re not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.\u201d<\/p>\n
