{"id":558047,"date":"2025-11-08T21:41:15","date_gmt":"2025-11-08T21:41:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/558047\/"},"modified":"2025-11-08T21:41:15","modified_gmt":"2025-11-08T21:41:15","slug":"john-carpenter-offers-the-thing-2-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/558047\/","title":{"rendered":"John Carpenter Offers &#8220;The Thing 2&#8221; Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/carpenter-teases-potential-the-thing-2.jpg\" data-caption=\"Universal Pictures\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"464\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/carpenter-teases-potential-the-thing-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"carpenter-teases-potential-the-thing-2\"\/><\/a>Universal Pictures<\/p>\n<p>If there\u2019s one film, iconic filmmaker John Carpenter will always be remembered for his 1982 Antarctic-set sci-fi horror \u201cThe Thing\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Though a box-office bomb on release, the paranoia thriller is now widely considered one of the greatest horror films of all time.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2023, Carpenter himself teased the possibility of a follow-up at a Texas Frightmare Weekend saying at the time: \u201cthere may be, I don\u2019t know if there will be, there may be a \u2018Thing 2.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This week, Carpenter appeared at Fan Expo Philadelphia (via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldofreel.com\/blog\/2025\/11\/6\/john-carpenter-hints-at-the-thing-sequel-were-working-on-it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World of Reel<\/a>) where the possibility of a \u201cThe Thing\u201d sequel came up again.<\/p>\n<p>From the sounds of it, not much progress has been made in two years: \u201cWe\u2019re working on it now\u2026I don\u2019t know. We\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If such a project might happen, would Carpenter direct?
