‘If your children are out this evening, do you know where they are and what they are doing?’Police in Bolton on Saturday night<\/p>\n

Police have responded after reports of kids lighting fireworks and throwing them at people in the street.<\/p>\n

Officers in Bolton<\/a> say they have received ‘numerous reports’ tonight (Saturday, November 8) of fireworks being thrown in the Queens Park area, and the Boardman Street area of Halliwell.<\/p>\n

They say a number of youths have been stopped and searched.<\/p>\n

And in a post on their Bolton district Facebook page, they sent a message to parents.<\/p>\n

“If your children are out this evening, do you know where they are and what they are doing?” the post said.<\/p>\n

“We have seen youths lighting fireworks in their hand and throwing them towards members of the public and police officers.<\/p>\n

“This is not safe and can result in serious injury or death.”<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, GMP said there were fewer incidents of anti-social behaviour on Bonfire Night this year than last year, but that ‘operational demand’ increased by around 11 per cent, with around 700 more incidents logged than on an average day.<\/p>\n

Bolton was one of the areas where a Section 60 order was put in place ‘in response to prior incidents.’ This gives officers greater powers to stop and search people.<\/p>\n
