“Bristol is a city of ideas, humour, and community \u2013 and the Birdman event is the perfect way to celebrate all of that”<\/p>\n

The call has gone out to businesses and organisations in Bristol to snap up the final few places on the take-off ramp for the city\u2019s first ever Birdman event, which will involve getting wet and raising money for a good community cause.<\/p>\n

The Bristol Birdman is taking palace on Sunday, June 15<\/a> at the Harbourside, and will see ten teams from businesses across the city create flying machines in an attempt to get across the water.<\/p>\n

There\u2019ll be prizes for the furthest distance flown, as well as for the style, grace and fun they have will doing it, and the event is being compared by actor and presenter Joe Sims.<\/p>\n

Up to ten slots on the starting ramp are up for grabs and most of them have already been filled, with local firms including Adventure Bristol, the Bakehouse Factory, software company Brightpearl, Commercial Property Advisors and Puppet Place getting stuck in.<\/p>\n

Money raised from the event will go to Grassroot Communities, a youthwork charity that is out on the streets and organising projects to help turn around the lives of young people<\/a> from Southmead<\/a> to Hartcliffe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are proud to be a part of Bristol’s first Birdman event, supporting Grassroots Community and the invaluable work they do in uplifting and strengthening local communities,\u201d said one participant, Gemma from CPA.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe’re thrilled to stand behind such an inspiring cause and look forward to contributing to this exciting and meaningful event,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\u201cBristol is a city of ideas, humour, and community \u2013 and the Birdman event is the perfect way to celebrate all of that, while raising money for a vital cause,\u201d said Ben Carpenter, the founder of Grassroot Communities. \u201cWe want this to be a celebration of Bristol\u2019s spirit, bringing together local businesses, creative minds, and future leaders.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll profits from the event will go to Grassroot Communities, a Bristol-based social enterprise supporting young people from underserved communities through mentoring, education, employment pathways, and leadership opportunities,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
