A superfit Scot is running from Buckingham Palace to Edinburgh Castle<\/a> to raise \u00a310,000 for a leading endometriosis charity.<\/p>\n Jonathan Galbraith is taking on the 400-mile challenge<\/a> as his partner Jodie Kidd suffers from the condition.<\/p>\n Endometriosis is a debilitating disease which affects one in 10 women<\/a> of reproductive age and can lead to chronic pain, difficulty getting \u00adpregnant and other health problems.<\/p>\n Jonathan, 29, from Falkirk<\/a>, hopes to raise awareness about the illness as well as cash for Endometriosis UK \u2013 having seen its impact on Jodie.<\/p>\n He told the Sunday Mail: \u201cJodie is such a strong person and never complains but I\u2019ve seen how much this can really affect<\/a> somebody on a day-to-day basis.<\/p>\n “There isn\u2019t really much research or support around it at all and it takes an extremely long time to get diagnosed.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve witnessed how hard some days are just doing normal things like going to work, going shopping, socialising with friends. It\u2019s made 10 times harder because of this condition<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n It took Jodie, 26, about a decade to be diagnosed after first going to the doctor\u2019s with severe period pain when she was a teenager.<\/p>\n The condition<\/a> sees tissue similar to that in the womb grow in other areas of the body.<\/p>\n In May, Jodie had keyhole surgery to remove the tissue which has reduced her pain \u2013 however, it could grow back in future. There is currently no cure.<\/p>\n Jodie, who is a healthcare<\/a> \u00adprofessional, said: \u201cThe only way I can describe it is like a hot poker going through the centre of your body.<\/p>\n \u201cIt goes beyond any sort of menstrual<\/a> pains, and it\u2019s really sporadic. While I have experienced immense relief post-surgery, I\u2019m so aware that I don\u2019t know how long that relief is going to last.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m definitely one of the lucky ones to have a diagnosis and my surgery super quickly compared to others.<\/p>\n \u201cI suppose this is for them, the people who aren\u2019t so lucky and battle with it every day. There are so many people who potentially have it much worse than I do.\u201d<\/p>\n Jonathan hopes to crack the route from London to Edinburgh<\/a> in a record-breaking nine days. He aims to clock in about 40 miles of running per day, starting on November 21 and ending on November 30.<\/p>\n Astonishingly, the personal trainer – who has a background in competitive kickboxing and Taekwondo – only started running<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n Asked what she thought of his \u00adchallenge \u2013 which Jonathan has dubbed \u201cNorthbound\u201d \u2013 Jodie laughed: \u201cAll my friends and family say, \u2018This is crazy, I can\u2019t believe he\u2019s doing it.\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cBut when he runs he just channels a completely different energy. I have no doubt in my mind he\u2019ll do it.\u201d<\/p>\n Jonathan has set up a JustGiving page<\/a> with the aim of raising \u00a310,000.
