The UK’s most luxurious hospital has opened its doors in London, boasting unlimited caviar and Andy Warhol artwork adorning the walls \u2013 with stays setting you back a cool \u00a3750 per night.<\/p>\n

Memorial Houston Medical (MhM) is pioneering a “design-first approach” to medical recovery – referencing studies which suggest that patients exposed to art experience improved recovery rates.<\/p>\n

The post-op facility, originally established in Texas, believes the scientific field of “neuroaesthetics”, which explores how the brain reacts to beauty and art, is fundamental to its design.<\/p>\n

Patients recuperating from cancer treatment, cardiology procedures, hip replacements, and diabetic foot disease, among other conditions, can convalesce in one of the building’s six patient suites or three outpatient rooms – featuring artwork such as a \u00a350,000 Andy Warhol portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.<\/p>\n

According to the hospital chiefs, the facility, which opened earlier this year, provides “five-star standards” in a former jewellery shop, situated on Fulham Road, South Kensington.<\/p>\n

Art from Warhol, Sir Peter Blake, and Jose\u0301 Mari\u0301a Garci\u0301a graces the walls throughout the building, while Lebanese haute couture designer Elie Saab has provided specially commissioned furniture.<\/p>\n

A 15-ft ceiling mural depicting the streets and waterways of London in gold leaf embellishes the top floor \u2013 while meals are served on bespoke crockery designed by Lebanese ceramicist Helen Zughaib.<\/p>\n

The building boasts materials such as calcutta marble, bronzed brass, and eucalyptus wood.<\/p>\n

The design features are said to “create aesthetic balance” for patients during their recovery.<\/p>\n

Those seeking treatment at the centre will be charged \u00a3750 per night, which includes a three-course dinner and afternoon tea, with a family member allowed to stay with the patient at no extra cost.<\/p>\n

A physiotherapist is also available on-site at a rate of \u00a3200 per hour, while minor procedures including a vitamin B12 injection (\u00a380) and dermal fillers (starting from \u00a3250) are also on offer.<\/p>\n

“It was about crafting spaces that actively participate in the patient’s healing process.<\/p>\n
