The winner of this year\u2019s Young Achiever of the Year Award<\/a> is a very special young woman who, despite having the odds stacked against her from a very young age, has gone on to achieve great success and is now helping others to do the same.<\/p>\n I really could not be more proud of Georgia Hardie.<\/p>\n Aged just 11, when the worst that most children have to contend with is detention and too much homework, Georgia was forced into homelessness<\/a> due to family problems.<\/p>\n She spent three years living secretly in her older sister\u2019s hostel, afraid of being discovered, before moving into a hostel on her own when she was just 14.<\/p>\n Life here was incredibly tough for a young girl. The majority of residents were much older than Georgia and many of them were grappling with serious addiction problems.<\/p>\n Georgia spent most of her time feeling terrified and alone and lived in constant fear that her few belongings would be stolen.<\/p>\n With all of this to cope with, and no emotional support, it\u2019s no wonder Georgia found it hard to concentrate at school and left with hardly any qualifications.<\/p>\n Aged 17, she was moved into council accommodation but the condition of the flat left her feeling vulnerable and isolated. It was at this point that Georgia hit rock bottom.<\/p>\n She was unemployed, without skills and had no idea what the future held.
