Gary Neville claimed Liverpool looked like a team who were beaten during the first-half of their Premier League<\/a> clash against Manchester City. The Reds<\/a> arrived at the Etihad looking to close the gap on leaders Arsenal.<\/p>\n

However, after Giorgi Mamardashvili saved a penalty from Erling Haaland, City opened the scoring when the forward headed home Matheus Nunes\u2019 cross. But there was controversy when Virgil van Dijk<\/a> saw an equaliser ruled out for offside.<\/p>\n

The Dutchman headed home a corner, but Andy Robertson<\/a> was adjudged to be interfering with play. And City then made it 2-0 in first-half stoppage-time when Nico Gonzalez saw his effort deflect in off Van Dijk.<\/p>\n

And before City\u2019s second, Neville claimed: “Bradley is having a really tough battle. Liverpool<\/a> look leggy. Physically, they look well off it. Sluggish.”<\/p>\n

And after the goal, he said: “Sometimes you can tell a team is there to be beaten. Liverpool’s legs are gone. They cannot get out. It is so, so poor. Van Dijk just lets it hit him.<\/p>\n

\u201cReally strange. Liverpool<\/a> have lost every battle. It is really worrying.”<\/p>\n

Speaking before the game, Reds boss Arne Slot<\/a> said: “It is always a lot of thought if you play a game in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

“If you play Man City<\/a>, probably even more because they can come up with so many different things. I can go through the whole list of what Pep has done in his 1000 games as a manager.<\/p>\n

“It is always a lot of thought. I have said many times, preferably you don’t change that much as a manager if there has been four days of rest. Some players are getting fitter and fitter, so more of a chance to keep the same players.”<\/p>\n
