DOZENS of police officers have swarmed<\/strong> a street in Glasgow city centre after a major incident this evening.<\/p>\n

Emergency services\u00a0raced to\u00a0Buchanan Street after the alarm was raised shortly before 7pm.<\/p>\n

Cops<\/a>\u00a0appear to be focusing on a local Sainsbury\u2019s<\/a> store, with an incident believed to have broken out just outside the shop.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s understood cops were called to the scene after a woman\u00a0was allegedly assaulted outside the store, before staff rushed to her aid.<\/p>\n

Witnesses reported seeing one woman injured, and paramedics were assisting her at the scene.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not clear what sparked the alleged incident.<\/p>\n

However, witnesses could see large splashes of liquid on the ground, while police bagged up items nearby.<\/p>\n

A witness told The Scottish Sun: \u201cThere was a bit of a rammy near the shop.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt ended up getting worse, and they ended up near the Buchanan Galleries.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne woman then ran into the Sainsbury\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cops were spotted collecting rolls of paper and other items into large plastic bags before loading them into a police car.<\/p>\n

Another cop was seen bringing a box and a first aid bag out of the shop as concerned locals lined the street.<\/p>\n

Shop staff have been seen continuing to work in the background as police handle the incident.<\/p>\n

Half a dozen\u00a0police<\/a>\u00a0cars<\/a>\u00a0are currently parked on the busy street in the heart of the city centre.<\/p>\n

Several ambulances and paramedics<\/a> were also seen on the street with their blue<\/a> emergency lights flashing.<\/p>\n

Police locked down the area surrounding the shop with blue tape blocking access to the public.<\/p>\n

Several officers have been seen guarding the area on foot as they dealt with the incident.<\/p>\n

The glass entrance to the store is also smashed, with shards of broken glass scattered along the ground.<\/p>\n

Photos from the scene show the busy street lined with emergency vehicles near Buchanan Galleries.<\/p>\n

Blue tape has been erected along the whole north side of the street and around the Sainsbury\u2019s store.<\/p>\n

Privacy<\/a> screens have been put up inside the store and in front of the shop\u2019s entrance.<\/p>\n

Several bottles of water<\/a> were also seen scattered around the entrance of the shop beside large puddles of water on the shop floor.<\/p>\n

There also appears to be splashes of liquid in the ground further up the street.<\/p>\n

Members of the public have been directed to a nearby shop on Sauchiehall Street after asking officers if they could get into the Buchanan Street Sainsbury\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Police Scotland<\/a> and the Scottish Ambulance Service<\/a> have been contacted for comment.<\/p>\n
