<\/a>Netflix<\/p>\nGet ready for a kinder, gentler Rambo for the upcoming prequel.<\/p>\n
Filmmaker Jalmari Helander is helming the project that will star Noah Centineo in the title role and which serves as a prequel to the five Sylvester Stallone-led movies.<\/p>\n
The previous films were all violent affairs, but have had wildly differing tones. They began with the almost melancholy and haunting \u201cFirst Blood,\u201d slipped into high-action ra-ra patriotism and militarism for the second and third film, and turned into quite dark dramas in the fourth and fifth films.<\/p>\n
In a recent interview with Dexerto<\/a>, Helander says the series is taking a different, more adventurous and lighter approach than the previous films as it explores John Rambo\u2019s early years during the Vietnam War.<\/p>\n He says: \u201cIt won\u2019t be as dark as the last two Rambos\u2026 It\u2019s going to be a little more adventurous, and I hope to inspire a new generation of 10-year-olds to go into the forest to play Rambo. Let\u2019s see how that goes.\u201d<\/p>\n Helander confirmed last month that \u2018hard prep\u2019 was underway on the project with the director travelling to Bangkok ahead of filming commencing in January.<\/p>\n
