Germany \u2014 usually seen as one of the most privacy-minded countries \u2014 on the other hand is <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.politico.eu\/news\/207535\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pushing<\/a> for big changes to help AI.<\/p>\n<p>In the European Parliament, the issue is expected to divide groups. Czech Greens lawmaker Mark\u00e9ta Gregorov\u00e1 said she is \u201csurprised and concerned&#8221; that the GDPR is being reopened. She warned that Europeans\u2019 fundamental rights \u201cmust carry more weight than financial interests.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But Finnish center-right lawmaker Aura Salla \u2014\u00a0who previously led Meta&#8217;s Brussels lobbying office \u2014\u00a0said she would \u201cwarmly\u201d welcome the proposal \u201cif done correctly,\u201d as it could bring legal certainty for AI companies.
