Two teenagers were rushed to hospital following a double stabbing in Manchester<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called out to Dickenson Road, in Longsight<\/a>, at around 9.30pm yesterday (November 10).<\/p>\n

It followed an altercation involving three males – two aged 18 and one aged 17 – Greater Manchester Police<\/a> says.<\/p>\n

Two of the three people were taken to hospital for treatment to stab wounds.<\/p>\n

An 18-year-old man remains in hospital for treatment this morning (Tuesday), where his condition is described as stable.<\/p>\n

Two of the three people involved – a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man – have since been arrested on suspicion of assault.<\/p>\n

One suspect was arrested at the scene on Tuesday night, while a second was transferred from hospital to police custody.<\/p>\n

Both remain in custody for questioning this morning.<\/p>\n

A cordon of around 150 metres stretches from the junction with Stockport<\/a> Road to Lincoln Street this morning.<\/p>\n

Longsight Market has remained partially open, but many businesses along Dickenson Road are closed.<\/p>\n

Detective Inspector Geoffrey Machent from GMP’s Longsight CID, said: \u201cWe attended reports of a stabbing on Dickenson Road and swiftly arrested one man while two others were taken to hospital.<\/p>\n

“One of those men has now been released from hospital and taken into police custody, while the other remains in hospital a stable condition.<\/p>\n

\u201cCarrying a knife can lead to serious and even fatal consequences. We are committed to removing weapons from our streets and protecting lives.”<\/p>\n

The closure resulted in considerable disruption in the area, with honks and shouting heard as traffic heading for the normally busy junction was forced onto nearby residential roads<\/p>\n

Police officers on the cordon had to turn a steady stream of people away as they tried to get to schools and appointments.<\/p>\n

A heightened police presence is expected to remain in the area.<\/p>\n

Det Insp Machent added: \u201cYou may notice an increase of officers in the area as they continue to conduct enquiries and offer community reassurance. Please feel free to let them know if you have any concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n
