A major commuter rail route through Birmingham has been partially suspended with the delays expected to continue throughout tonight’s rush hour.<\/p>\n

The Cross City Line south was suspended at lunchtime today, Tuesday, November 11 due to a \u2018signalling fault\u2019.<\/p>\n

As well as routes from the city centre to Bromsgrove<\/a> and Redditch<\/a>, the fault was also affecting West Midlands Railway services to Hereford.<\/p>\n

The train firm posted on X shortly before 1pm: \u201cCross City South suspended. Due to a signal fault, services between Birmingham<\/a> New Street & Bromsgrove\/Redditch will be suspended.<\/p>\n

\u201cRail replacement is being ordered and ticket acceptance is being ordered.\u201d<\/p>\n

The firm posted on its website: \u201cThere is a problem near University, which has been caused by a signalling issue, engineers are on site, however the issue is not expected to be resolved until 20:00.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrains services running through the area will be cancelled.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe expect our train service to be back to normal by 21:00.\u201d<\/p>\n

Network Rail\u2019s Birmingham New Street Station<\/a> account posted: \u201cWe are on site to fix the signalling issue affecting all services along the Cross City south line between Birmingham and Redditch\/Bromsgrove.<\/p>\n

\u201cRail replacement buses are in place between Longbridge and Bromsgrove\/Redditch.\u201d<\/p>\n
