British Paralympian Sam Ruddock has been reported missing in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n
Ruddock, 35, was last heard from on April 16.<\/p>\n
His friend Lucy Hatton, a former Team GB hurdler, said she had contacted the last hostel Ruddock had been known to be staying at, who informed her he had not checked out or taken his belongings.<\/p>\n
Hatton confirmed on social media that police had been informed and were investigating. She said a timeline of Ruddock\u2019s whereabouts was being pieced together and appealed for anyone with further information to get into contact.<\/p>\n
Hatton explained Ruddock had travelled solo to Las Vegas on April 13 to watch a WrestleMania event.<\/p>\n
He had been supposed to check out of his hostel near Las Vegas Boulevard on April 15 and was later scheduled to travel to New York and Texas as part of his trip.<\/p>\n
Hatton told\u00a0The Athletic\u00a0she became concerned when Ruddock, typically very active on social media, went \u201cradio silent\u201d.<\/p>\n
Lincolnshire Police confirmed to\u00a0The Athletic\u00a0it has an active missing persons investigation for Ruddock.<\/p>\n
\n<\/blockquote>\nRuddock, who has cerebral palsy, won gold in the C1 1,000m time trial at the 2023 World Para-Cycling Championships. He switched to track cycling in 2018, having previously been a track and field athlete.<\/p>\n
He represented Paralympics GB in the shot put at Rio 2016, an event he won European silver in in 2016, and competed in the 100m and 200m at London 2012.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis passion is just infectious,\u201d said Hatton, who has known Ruddock for over a decade. \u201cHe is somebody that has impacted so many people\u2019s lives and he is a wonderful human being.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is very out of character, this is not Sam\u2019s character to do anything of the sort like this.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Athletic\u00a0has contacted Las Vegas Police and British Cycling for comment.<\/p>\n
