Merseyside Police are investigation after reports of \u201cdangerous items\u201d being thrown from a balcony on a high-rise building in Bootle<\/a>. Strand House is a residential block which towers over The Strand shopping centre, and is managed by One Vision Housing, who have been notified of the situation.<\/p>\n Police said the actions of the person throwing the objects is putting people at risk of harm, including construction workers who are currently undertaking demolition works on parts of Bootle Strand. The demolition is part of a wider regeneration project for Bootle which aims to completely modernise the town centre.<\/p>\n The roof over the Palatine Mall Atrium has now been fully removed, separating the Palatine Block from the rest of the shopping centre. The old shop canopies along Stanley Road have also been taken down.<\/p>\n The Liverpool ECHO<\/a> understands the main demolition of the Palatine Block was planned to coincide with the removal of the old roof coverings from the Mons Square Canopy. Work began earlier this spring and has successfully cleared approximately 40,000 square feet \u2013 9% of the existing site \u2013 to make way for a new public square.<\/p>\n In relation to the \u201cdangerous items\u201d being thrown out of Strand House, the presence of people working on the regeneration project, specifically construction workers directly below Strand House, is an ongoing and serious concern.<\/p>\n There is no confirmation of whether the individual household has been identified, but police sent out a letter to all residents of Strand House, titled: \u201cWarning to Residents of Strand House\u201d.<\/p>\n It added: \u201cWe are investigating multiple reports of dangerous items being thrown from a balcony in this premises.<\/p>\n \u201cThese actions pose a serious risk to the safety of workers nearby. This behaviour is extremely hazardous and if an item thrown causes injury or risk of injury, it could be considered assault or reckless endangerment.<\/p>\n \u201cThe police are now formally aware of this matter. Further incidents will result in enforcement action.<\/p>\n \u201cThe housing provider One Vision has been notified, and further incidents may breach your tenancy agreement. This letter serves as a final warning.<\/p>\n \u201cNo items must be thrown from the premises under any circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n A spokesperson for Merseyside Police told the ECHO<\/a>: \u201cWe received a report that several items had been thrown from balconies at Strand House in Bootle.<\/p>\n \u201cThere have been no reported injuries. Local policing officers have been made aware and delivered letters to homes.\u201d<\/p>\n
