John Moxon, operator of the Beau Geste in Ashton-under-Lyne, took home the \u2018Best Newcomer\u2019 prize.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">The pub, on Katherine Street, only reopened in June following a major six-figure revamp. The homely pub features a modern decor, with a &#8216;sun trap&#8217; beer garden. Built in 1967, the pub is a popular spot for the nearby<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">John, who took over the established local venue last year, was praised by award judges for taking the Beau Geste to a new level of popularity within the community since his arrival. Led by operator Tom Slattery, the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/trafford\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Trafford<\/a> venue has been regarded as a place to watch top sports games, including City and United matches.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">On match days, the pub goes all out with kid\u2019s entertainment, games, themed lighting, sweepstakes and regular live entertainment.
