\n\tJimmy Kimmel<\/a> is taking a break following the death of his friend and bandleader Cleto Escobedo III, otherwise known as Jr.<\/p>\n

\n\tJimmy Kimmel Live!<\/a> will take the rest of the week off. It comes after Kimmel gave an emotional tribute to his pal, who he has known since childhood.<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cCherish your friends, we\u2019re not here forever,\u201d he closed out his monologue. \u201cThank you for indulging me, we\u2019re going to take the next couple of nights off, I wanted to be here tonight to tell you about my friend and Cleto loved Eddie Murphy and he wouldn\u2019t have wanted us to miss this.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKimmel\u2019s guests tonight included Murphy, who was promoting his Being Eddie doc for Netflix, and Morgan Fairchild.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe pause will see the show reschedule upcoming guests; Danny DeVito, Howard Jones, Debbie Gibson were set to feature on Wednesday\u2019s show and Jason Bateman, Mr. T, and Susanna Hoffs were due for Thursday.<\/p>\n

\n\tKimmel opened the show by saying, \u201cWe\u2019ve been on the air for almost 23 years and I\u2019ve had to do some hard monologues along the way,\u201d he said. \u201cBut this will\u2026 This one\u2019s the hardest because late last night, early this morning, we lost someone very special who was too young to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe also recalled that they both were fans of David Letterman and how it was \u201ca really big deal for both of us,\u201d when he made his first appearance in 1999.<\/p>\n
