A man accused of murdering a woman in Birmingham city centre is set to be tried in six months.<\/p>\n

Katie Fox, aged 34, was fatally stabbed in the neck on Smallbrook Queensway shortly before 9pm on Friday, November 7.<\/p>\n

Djeison Rafael was charged with her murder.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old, of Rosedale Avenue in Smethwick<\/a>, was also charged with two counts of causing actual bodily harm on October 27 and November 7, possession of a Stanley blade on November 7 and assaulting a detention escort officer on November 8.<\/p>\n

Today, Wednesday, November 12 he appeared at Birmingham Crown Court<\/a> via a link from HMP Long Lartin near Evesham.<\/p>\n

Rafael only spoke to confirm his name but was not asked to enter pleas to the charges.<\/p>\n

Judge Simon Drew KC set a trial date for May 5 next year with the case expected to take between two to three weeks.<\/p>\n

No bail application was made on behalf of the defendant, who was remanded in custody. A further hearing was scheduled for January 16.<\/p>\n

West Midlands Police previously said it wanted to hear from anyone who knew more about what happened or the movements of Rafael, who it described as a black British national.<\/p>\n

It was believed he was wearing an all-grey tracksuit, black hat, trainers and rucksack on Friday evening, according to the force.<\/p>\n
