A late-night bakery is preparing to open in Liverpool city centre. Insomnia Cookies, a brand with more than 300 stores worldwide, is known for its freshly baked cookies, cookie sandwiches and indulgent shakes served into the early hours.<\/p>\n
Founded in 2003 by Seth Berkowitz<\/a>, who came up with the idea as a college student craving late-night treats, the company has since expanded across the UK. The company now has locations in Birmingham, Nottingham, and three sites in Manchester. New branches are also on the way in Newcastle and Bristol.<\/p>\n Liverpool\u2019s first Insomnia Cookies bakery<\/a> will open in the former Sips cocktail bar on Slater Street<\/a>, with doors officially opening on Saturday, December 13. The grand opening will kick off at 2pm, featuring appearances from famous viral faces Queen of Scotty Road and Michael Aldag, followed by a live DJ set at 8pm to keep the celebration going into the night.<\/p>\n The first person in line at the opening will receive a year’s supply of cookies, with the next 50 people getting their hands on free merchandise. Everyone in attendance will enjoy a complimentary warm cookie and be in with a chance to win prizes.<\/p>\n Millie Ralston, head of marketing at Insomnia Cookies said: \u201cWe\u2019re beyond excited to be opening in Liverpool this December, just in time for the festive season.<\/p>\n “Bringing our warm, gooey cookies to such an iconic and vibrant city is a dream come true. Liverpool\u2019s legendary nightlife, incredible student community, and rich cultural energy make it the perfect home for Insomnia Cookies.<\/p>\n “Whether you\u2019re wrapping up a night out or craving something sweet with your cosy night in, if you’re up then we are, seven days a week. With over 350 stores worldwide and a cult following across the US, Canada and UK, we can\u2019t wait to share the Insomnia experience with Liverpool.”<\/p>\n Two Merseyside bakeries<\/a> are in the running to be named the best in the country at the National Bakery Awards. <\/a>The first nomination is Rough Hand Made<\/a>, which was renowned on Penny Lane when it opened in 2014. After four successful years, owners Carlos and Sharon Goldman decided to open their business in a new home on the Royal Albert Dock<\/a>, where it remains today.<\/p>\n The second nominee is The Wild Loaf<\/a>.
