Scotland is set up for a massive \u00a3270m boost from hosting six matches at Hampden for EURO 2028.<\/a><\/p>\n Football fans will be treated to group games and latter stages matches after the UK and Ireland secured the right to stage the tournament<\/a>.<\/p>\n EURO 2028 will be the largest sporting event ever hosted by the two countries and Scotland is set to reap the benefits<\/a>.<\/p>\n The eagerly anticipated match schedule will see matches in nine stadia across eight host cities.<\/p>\n Of the 51 games across 31 days, Glasgow will host six at Hampden between June 10th and July 1st 2028.<\/p>\n Four group games will be played at the national stadium, as will a last sixteen fixture and one quarter final.<\/p>\n READ MORE: John Swinney to meet with family of Sheku Bayoh after public inquiry ‘collapses’<\/a>READ MORE: Police Scotland will record the biological gender of sex offenders<\/a><\/p>\n It is the second time Glasgow will have acted as a host city for the tournament.<\/p>\n Wembley will host the final and the football extravaganza will start at the National Stadium of Wales in Cardiff.<\/p>\n The draw has not been made and Scotland\u2019s fans will be hoping to see their heroes play at Hampden.<\/p>\n The official brand was launched on the giant Piccadilly Lights screens in London\u2019s Piccadilly Circus, while Glasgow unveiled their host city logo featuring the iconic Armadillo.<\/p>\n Three million tickets are expected to go on sale and the Scottish Government estimates an economic boost of \u00a3270m.<\/p>\n First Minister John Swinney said: \u201cOur investment in EURO 2028 will bring significant benefits not only during the tournament but long after it concludes by creating jobs, driving regional prosperity and encouraging visitors to our shores.<\/p>\n \u201cThis spectacle of European football\u2019s finest will bring communities together and offer a fresh opportunity to provide a warm Scottish welcome, deliver vibrant celebrations and reinforce our global reputation for hospitality.<\/p>\n \u201cWith funding going into health and wellbeing programmes across Scotland, the EUROs can be a force for good in tackling inequalities and supporting communities.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Scottish Government has already invested \u00a35.5 million in the Extra Time programme \u2013 and I\u2019ve seen what a huge difference that has made to children and families in Scotland. I\u2019m pleased we are able to provide further benefits to local communities by being a part of this once-in-a-generation event.\u201d<\/p>\n Glasgow council leader Susan Aitken said: \u201cGlasgow\u2019s global reputation for successfully hosting the big event continues to build and we\u2019re thrilled to be counting down to one of the biggest in world sport, UEFA EURO 2028.<\/p>\n \u201cThe unveiling of Glasgow\u2019s match schedule and our host city logo are two exciting milestones on the road to Hampden, the real home of football.<\/p>\n \u201cWith a potential global TV audience of more than two billion, this is another incredible opportunity to showcase Glasgow, while those visiting from across Europe will experience our city\u2019s world-class hospitality and the warmth of our people.<\/p>\n \u201cOf course, we\u2019ll be helping make sure ordinary Glaswegians are part of this festival of football and look forward to working with the Scottish Football Association on the largest-ever Community Programme for the Tournament.\u201d<\/p>\n Ian Maxwell, Chief Executive Officer at the Scottish Football Association, said: \u201cToday is another exciting landmark moment, and another step towards us proudly co-hosting UEFA EURO 2028. \u201cIt\u2019s great for Glasgow and Scotland that we\u2019ll host six games at Hampden Park – including a Quarter-Final tie.<\/p>\n \u201cThe history of our world-renowned National Stadium is peppered with iconic moments, and this represents a fantastic opportunity to add a few more unforgettable memories.<\/p>\n \u201cI know our supporters – revered across the globe for their dedication and passion – will enjoy having some of the game\u2019s best players on their doorstep.<\/p>\n \u201cWe talk a lot about the Power of Football and the impact it can make on a daily basis across Scotland, far beyond the confines of a pitch.<\/p>\n \u201cI have no doubt co-hosting UEFA EURO 2028 will inspire a new generation, young and old, and leave a legacy we can all be proud of in this country.\u201d<\/p>\n In an article for the Record, SNP Business Minister Richard Lochhead wrote: \u201cThe launch of this festival of football reveals just how much Scotland will benefit from co-hosting the tournament, with six matches coming to Hampden Park in Glasgow.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Scottish Government is putting up to \u00a373 million investment into making this happen \u2013 but the benefits will be many times greater and wide ranging.<\/p>\n \u201cEURO 2028 will bring an estimated \u00a3270 million to the Scottish economy, support jobs and leave a lasting legacy for communities through a Social Impact Fund.<\/p>\n \u201cAs the Minister with portfolio responsibility, I\u2019m proud to help bring major events like this to Scotland.<\/p>\n \u201cThey showcase Scotland to the world, attracting millions of people to our shores, driving spend in shops and hotels and building a strong visitor economy across the year and throughout the country.<\/p>\n \u201cBy securing a range of cultural, sporting and business events – large and small, free and ticketed, recurring and one-off \u2013 Scotland\u2019s communities can reap the rewards.\u201d<\/p>\n![\"First](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1_01K9W2CZJ5MG6G9T95DYECJ94A.jpg\")
