The creative team working on the new James Bond<\/a><\/strong> movie for Amazon MGM Studios<\/a> are reportedly struggling to overcome one big issue.<\/p>\n

After gaining creative control of the James Bond franchise from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, Amazon MGM Studios announced that Dune\u2019s Denis Villeneuve<\/a> would helm the next 007 movie. No casting has been announced at this time, as Villeneuve is currently working on Dune: Part Three. It is known that Peaky Blinders\u2019 Steven Knight<\/a> has been tapped to pen the script.<\/p>\n

Why are the James Bond writers reportedly struggling with the new 007 movie?<\/p>\n

While there have been no firm details regarding what the next James Bond movie will be about, Radar Online<\/a> is now reporting that those working closely on the project have a \u201chuge creative headache\u201d after Daniel Craig<\/a>\u2019s 007 was definitively killed at the end of 2021\u2019s No Time to Die<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Of course, nobody expected Craig to return as Bond after No Time to Die; however, figuring out how to propel the character forward after that has reportedly become a problem.<\/p>\n

\u201cWriters are tearing their hair out,\u201d an unnamed source close to the production told the outlet. \u201cBond didn\u2019t just vanish off a cliff or fake his death \u2013 he was blown to pieces on screen. Everyone agrees it was a massive mistake because Bond is supposed to be eternal. They are now stuck trying to find a believable way to resurrect him, and it is proving almost impossible.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is only a rumor at this time, meaning this news should be taken with a grain of salt. While it\u2019s possible that Amazon MGM Studios tries to address the ending of No Time to Die in some way, it\u2019s also entirely possible (and perhaps more likely) that, similar to past entries into the franchise, they\u2019ll simply cast a new actor without having to address past continuity, as that is more or less expected by fans at this point.<\/p>\n

Having said that, Anthony Horowitz, who has written three 007 novels, did tell Radio Times<\/a> this past September that he believes killing Bond at the end of No Time to Die was a mistake.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last time we saw Bond he was poisoned and blown to smithereens \u2013 how will they get past the fact he is dead with a capital D?\u201d he said. \u201cI think that was a mistake, because Bond is a legend. He belongs to everybody, he is eternal \u2013 except in that film. If I was asked tomorrow to write the script, I wouldn\u2019t be able to do it. Where would you start?
