Alan Shearer has come up with three possible reasons for Mohamed Salah\u2019s dramatic downturn this season while Jamie Carragher has urged Liverpool boss Arne Slot to \u201cplay someone else\u201d.<\/p>\n
Slot\u2019s side have lost five of their last six Premier League games to slip from the top of the table into eighth<\/a><\/strong>, eight points behind league-leaders Arsenal.<\/p>\n And on the back of their insipid performance in the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday<\/a><\/strong> Shearer believes that\u2019s too big a margin for the Reds to make up and claims they \u201cwon\u2019t win anything\u201d if they fail to improve.<\/p>\n READ:\u00a0Liverpool outmuscled, outtackled and outrun as 20 per cent drop revealed<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n He told Betfair: \u201cIf Liverpool continue to play like they did against Manchester City, then they won\u2019t win anything.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019ll get dumped out of whatever competitions they\u2019re in. They\u2019ve got the FA Cup and the Champions League, but I do think the league\u2019s gone for them now they\u2019ve lost five games.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t see them being in a title race now. I think they would have to probably win every single game between now and the end of the season.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think that\u2019s possible. So, I think their title race is done. It\u2019s the Champions League or the FA Cup for Liverpool, but they won\u2019t be winning any of those unless they improve anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n One of the standout factors in Liverpool\u2019s poor form has been Salah\u2019s slump after driving them to the title with 29 goals and 18 assists last season.<\/p>\n He\u2019s managed just four goals and two assist this term and Shearer speculated as to what\u2019s changed with the Egyptian hero.<\/p>\n \u201cMo Salah\u2019s nowhere near what he was last season or what he\u2019s been like,\u201d Shearer said. \u201cI don\u2019t know whether (Salah) feels because of the money that has been spent on Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak that he\u2019s not the number one player anymore.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s definitely something that\u2019s not right, whether that\u2019s the old age thing getting to him and not being as good as he was, or whether he\u2019s got a bee in his bonnet about something.<\/p>\n \u201cBut we\u2019re definitely not seeing the same Mo Salah as what we\u2019ve seen.
