Tickets can no longer be booked for upcoming events, including a karaoke night on Friday (November 14) and Indie bottomless brunch on the Saturday (November 15).<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Join the Manchester Evening News <\/strong><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">WhatsApp<\/strong><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\"> group <\/strong><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/chat.whatsapp.com\/LUaHo8T8DDWDaHg65G29aN\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"HERELink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">HERE<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">Co-owners, Greg Dwyer and Joseph Finegan, only opened the venue in June last year in the site of the former Font bar, which <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/whats-on\/whats-on-news\/legendary-city-centre-bar-announces-25918152\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">announced its shock closure after more than 20 years<\/a> in January 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">At the time, they<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/manchester-institution-reopens-irish-bar-29391712\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> said their mission was to create a &#8216;homely&#8217; atmosphere <\/a>where people can come by any time of the day, whether for breakfast, a drink or to listen to live music, with a range of events booked in the bar&#8217;s calendar. They opened the space along with fellow nightlife veteran Chris Sharp.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/4_Mother-Marys-Irish-bar.jpg\" alt=\"The stage area of the new Irish bar, Mother Mary\u2019s\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The stage area of the new Irish bar, Mother Mary\u2019s(Image: Kenny Brown | Manchester Evening News)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">But less than two years after opening their doors, the venue announced via a social media post on Wednesday (November 12) that it had been forced to close due to &#8216;financial pressures&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">A statement said the music bar had been &#8216;home to grassroots music, inclusive club nights and events that brought together people from all walks of life.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Content cannot be displayed without consent<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">&#8220;It breaks our hearts to share that Mother Mary\u2019s, as of this past weekend, has been forced to close its doors due to financial pressures,&#8221; the statement said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">It added: &#8220;Over the past year, Mother Mary\u2019s has become so much more than a bar, it has grown into a true community hub. We\u2019ve been home to grassroots music, inclusive club nights, and events that brought together people from all walks of life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">&#8220;From the bands who played their very first gigs on our stage (and have already gone on to fill bigger venues), to the regulars who made this place feel like home, to the countless partygoers who filled the dance floor with joy. Especially also with the heart and spirit to offer a free space to fundraisers and events that are integral to those in our city that are often underrepresented.
