{"id":566396,"date":"2025-11-12T23:06:14","date_gmt":"2025-11-12T23:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/566396\/"},"modified":"2025-11-12T23:06:14","modified_gmt":"2025-11-12T23:06:14","slug":"us-criticises-britain-over-nuclear-reactor-proposals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/566396\/","title":{"rendered":"US criticises Britain over nuclear reactor proposals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">LONDON (Reuters) -The U.S. ambassador to London on Wednesday attacked Britain&#8217;s approach to nuclear power in \u200ban unusually strong criticism on the eve of an expected decision on \u200cthe development of a site in north Wales.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Britain is expected on Thursday to announce its first small \u200cmodular reactor (SMR) nuclear power station will be located in Wylfa on Anglesey, an island in North Wales, where there was an old nuclear power station that closed down in 2015.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">But the United States had been pushing \u2060for a large-scale nuclear \u200cproject, and on Wednesday ambassador Warren Stephens issued a strongly-worded rebuke of Britain for its decision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;We are extremely disappointed \u200dby this decision, not least because there are cheaper, faster, and already-approved options to provide clean, safe energy at this same location,&#8221;
