{"id":566740,"date":"2025-11-13T02:54:25","date_gmt":"2025-11-13T02:54:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/566740\/"},"modified":"2025-11-13T02:54:25","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T02:54:25","slug":"mortgage-interest-rates-rise-for-first-time-since-january-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/566740\/","title":{"rendered":"Mortgage interest rates rise for first time since January \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The average <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/interest-rates\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/interest-rates\/\">mortgage interest rate<\/a> rose in September for the first time since January,  raising concern that the trend towards cheaper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/mortgages\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/mortgages\/\">mortgages <\/a>may have \u201ccome to an end\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/central-bank\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/central-bank\/\">Central Bank<\/a> figures indicate that the weighted average interest rate on new mortgages here rose marginally to 3.59 per cent in September from 3.58 per cent in August. However, rates remain almost half a percentage point lower than in September of last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The equivalent euro zone average was 3.34 per cent, the regulator said, making Ireland the seventh most expensive jurisdiction for home loans in the bloc. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The figures come after last month\u2019s decision by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/european-central-bank-ecb\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/european-central-bank-ecb\/\">European Central Bank <\/a>to keep interest rates steady following a recent run of cuts.
