A man has been arrested after a pensioner was left fighting for her life in a hit-and-run.<\/p>\n

The woman, said to be in her 70s, was walking along Wentworth Road in Harborne, around 10.15pm on Tuesday (Nov 4), when she was struck by a car which then left the scene.<\/p>\n

A week later and the victim remains in hospital in a critical condition.<\/p>\n

West Midlands Police<\/a> arrested a 39-year-old on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, possession of a knife and possession of class A drugs and he has now been bailed.<\/p>\n

Police believe a red Ford Focus might have been involved and they are appealing to anyone with footage from the area to contact them.<\/p>\n

WMP said: “We are appealing for information after a woman in her 70s was seriously injured following a collision in Harborne<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Just after 10.15pm on Tuesday (4 Nov) the woman was hit by a vehicle on Wentworth Road.<\/p>\n

“The vehicle then fled the scene.<\/p>\n

“The woman was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries and remains in a critical condition.<\/p>\n

“Following enquiries, we arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.<\/p>\n

“Following a search, a quantity of Class A drugs and a knife were recovered.<\/p>\n

“He was further arrested for possession of a knife and possession of class A drugs.<\/p>\n

“The man has now been bailed pending further enquiries.<\/p>\n
