{"id":567487,"date":"2025-11-13T11:06:15","date_gmt":"2025-11-13T11:06:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/567487\/"},"modified":"2025-11-13T11:06:15","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T11:06:15","slug":"tate-liverpool-reveals-ed-ruscha-display-for-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/567487\/","title":{"rendered":"Tate Liverpool reveals Ed Ruscha display for 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/0e1ba9_e949be1194a147d4b1389f23b8e69376~mv2.jpg\" alt=\"ree\" style=\"width:100%;height:100%;object-fit:cover;object-position:50% 50%;max-width:100%\" data-pin-url=\"https:\/\/www.artscityliverpool.com\/single-post\/tate-liverpool-reveals-ed-ruscha-display-for-2026\" data-pin-media=\"https:\/\/static.wixstatic.com\/media\/0e1ba9_e949be1194a147d4b1389f23b8e69376~mv2.jpg\/v1\/fill\/w_2500,h_1125,al_c,q_90\/0e1ba9_e949be1194a147d4b1389f23b8e69376~mv2.jpg\" draggable=\"false\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"IFLJx f1-1G _-7vPo sDlj2\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-sx9pg845\">Tate Liverpool will stage a display by influential contemporary American artist Ed Ruscha at its Mann Island home in 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"IFLJx f1-1G _-7vPo sDlj2\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-jb4j9434\">ARTIST ROOMS: Ed Ruscha will be on show from February 12 to June 14 at Tate Liverpool + RIBA North on Mann Island.<\/p>\n<p class=\"IFLJx f1-1G _-7vPo sDlj2\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-yld61436\">The display, centred on the driving culture of mid-century America and the emerging architecture of Los Angeles, will feature books, photographs, paintings, drawings, and lithographs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"IFLJx f1-1G _-7vPo sDlj2\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-sw62u438\">Born in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1937, Ruscha is widely regarded as one of the world\u2019s most important artists with a career spanning seven decades from the 1960s onwards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"IFLJx f1-1G _-7vPo sDlj2\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-kq2z6440\">Ruscha grew up in Oklahoma and moved from Oklahoma City to Los Angeles in 1956 &#8211; the 1,330-mile journey heavily influenced his work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"IFLJx f1-1G _-7vPo sDlj2\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-ws7y8442\">The Tate Liverpool display will follow Ruscha\u2019s drive through the vast open space and urban landscape of the USA. Taking his engagement with petrol stations as a starting point, it will invite visitors to join the artist in looking at his surroundings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"IFLJx f1-1G _-7vPo sDlj2\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-5tk8p444\">What comes into view are parking lots and swimming pools, Deli\u2019s, Diner\u2019s, and Nightclubs \u2013 buildings, facilities, and urban areas representing the \u2018American way of life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"IFLJx f1-1G _-7vPo sDlj2\" dir=\"auto\" id=\"viewer-ch2t6446\">His landmark 1963 book\u00a0Twentysix Gasoline Stations, comprising 26 photographs of gas stations along Route 66, will be available to view digitally in the display.
