The Auston Trusty and Jack Butland controversy is still not going away almost two weeks after Celtic beat Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Celtic defender has been at the centre of a red card discussion after Trusty<\/a> has been accused of deliberately booting Butland in the head during the Hoops\u2019 3-1 win over Rangers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Of course, the match officials booked Trusty<\/a> and VAR agreed with the decision and that seems to have sent the whole of Scottish football into a tailspin.<\/p>\n

We told this morning how SFA head of referees Willie Collum plans to tell Rangers<\/a> that his match officials got the Celtic decision correct.<\/p>\n

And that not only appears to have annoyed Rangers fans, it\u2019s also made social media account The Ref\u2019s View apply some revisionism as to what actually happened between the Celtic and Rangers player.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s bad enough that Celtic fans had to deal with Billy Dodds\u2019 nonsense where he claimed Trusty \u2018raked\u2019 his studs down Butland\u2019s face.<\/p>\n

The claim was so preposterous, 67 Hail Hail clamped Dodds\u2019 Celtic claim<\/a> using a widely available picture of the Rangers goalkeeper.<\/p>\n

And now, it seems, that after the Collum revelation, The Ref\u2019s View has now stirred up the nonsensical \u2018studs\u2019 allegation about the Celtic star. <\/p>\n

Taking to X, The Ref\u2019s View posted, \u201cSo after the dust has settled Willie Collum has decided to back up caution for Trusty the challenge on Butland \u2013 despite the ball being in both hands & studs\/boot contacting head. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe said at time caution but on review it\u2019s a clear ordering off. The fact VAR never asked for review is awful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s be clear, Trusty\u2019s studs were not used and did not contact Butland\u2019s head. Was the American\u2019s challenge clumsy and was the Celtic star lucky not to be red carded? Of course.<\/p>\n

But let\u2019s stop this gibberish as it\u2019s not helping one bit.<\/p>\n

What Jack Butland said about Celtic\u2019s Trusty challenge<\/p>\n

The Rangers goalkeeper also had his say<\/a> about Trusty\u2019s challenge as he revealed a half-time chat with match referee, Nick Walsh.<\/p>\n

Butland said, \u201cI spoke to him about it at half-time, not at the end of the game because the game\u2019s gone at that point.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was looking for some clarity at the time. I\u2019m not going to go into individuals or whether we\u2019ve got a different referee this weekend and obviously hoping the standard is top.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike I said, I think it\u2019s just a situation where between the referee and all the staff that you\u2019re looking for communication between them, calm communication between them, so that they go through things and come to the right decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

Well, it turns out a decision was made. Do people have to like it? No. Should people now start to move on because the rhetoric is starting to look a bit silly now? Absolutely.<\/p>\n
