Manchester Airport<\/a> has announced details of the six street-food kitchens which will open in Terminal 2\u2019s new market hall.<\/p>\n Southern-style buttermilk chicken, Mexican tacos, smash burgers and Pad Thai will all feature on menus in the new Terminal 2 Great Northern Market, due to open in the coming months.<\/p>\n It\u2019s part of the \u00a31.3billion redevelopment of the terminal which is set to be completed early next year.<\/a><\/p>\n The Great Northern Market will feature six street-food kitchens set around a central dining area, meaning groups of people can order from different, rotating pop-ups and still eat together.<\/p>\n Join our Manchester Food and Drink WhatsApp group HERE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Described as \u2018first-of-its-kind\u2019 by the airport, the market will cover a space of more than 1,000 square metres and have 500 seats.<\/p>\n The kitchens have been confirmed by Retail Director Richard Jackson, speaking to the airport\u2019s official podcast Manchester: Your Airport, MAN.<\/p>\n The first kitchens to open will be: Nashville Hot House, serving buttermilk chicken and other Southern favourites; The Black Iron Grill, serving smash burgers and loaded fries; Kouzina, with Greek and Mediterranean inspired street eats; La Casita, offering a variety of Mexican dishes; Palms Caf\u00e9, serving pan-Asian dishes; and Napoli Street Pizza.<\/p>\n In addition to the six street-food kitchens, which take inspiration from some of Manchester\u2019s finest street eats, Mancunian institution Gooey will also be bringing its assortment of sweet treats to the Great Northern Market, from coffees to cookies and donuts.<\/a><\/p>\n Richard said: \u201cThe Great Northern Market will be Manchester Airport<\/a>\u2019s own market hall \u2013 six kitchens in one, more than 1,000 square metres and 500 seats.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s going to be a real hit with the Manchester crowd. Whatever you want, there\u2019s something for everyone \u2013 and there will be a takeaway option as well, so you can eat in this huge 500-seat market hall area with plenty of seating, or you can just grab something to take on your flight.<\/p>\n \u201cAs you can imagine, it\u2019s a very complicated build because we\u2019re not just doing the one kitchen, we\u2019re doing six, but it\u2019s coming along well and we\u2019re really excited to share it with our passengers.\u201d<\/p>\n Jake Ansbro, co-founder of Gooey, added: \u201cGooey was born in Manchester, and the city has supported us from day one. Opening at Manchester Airport feels like a dream next step \u2014 a chance to share a little bit of what we do with people travelling across the world. We\u2019re so excited to be part of The Great Northern Market celebrating Manchester next to some other amazing operators.\u201d<\/p>\n Due to open in the coming months, the Great Northern Market is one of more than 20 new shops and restaurants opening in Terminal 2 as part of the second phase of Manchester Airport\u2019s 10-year, \u00a31.3bn transformation programme, now nearing completion.<\/p>\n Earlier this year, a new section of the departure lounge opened that will adjoin the Great Northern Market, housing the likes of LEGO, Rituals and Joe & The Juice.<\/p>\n Once complete, the project will more than double the size of Terminal 2 and turn it into Manchester Airport\u2019s main centre of gravity, with Terminal 1 set to close.<\/p>\n Space from Terminal 1\u2019s closure will also be used to expand Terminal 3, which will exclusively serve Ryanair passengers.
