Patrick Bamford has found a new home<\/strong>, albeit temporarily.<\/p>\n

Championship outfit Sheffield United <\/a>confirmed the signing of Bamford<\/a> until January.<\/p>\n

Bamford had been a free agent having been released by Leeds United<\/a> in August, which brought the curtain down on his seven-year stint at Elland Road.<\/p>\n

Rumours of a switch to Championship leaders Coventry City were ignited when Bamford was spotted training with the club.<\/a><\/p>\n

But any such talk of a switch to the Sky Blues was dismissed, with the situation deemed as a favour from Coventry boss Frank Lampard, who was previously a teammate of Bamford’s at Chelsea.<\/p>\n

Bamford had also been linked with a switch to Scottish giants Celtic<\/a> as well as Championship newbies Wrexham,<\/a> but a move to either side never came to fruition.<\/a><\/p>\n

Instead, a switch to Bramall Lane has come about for the 32-year-old, although there could be an interesting dynamic between him and Blades boss Chris Wilder.<\/a><\/p>\n

A 6-0 mauling over Stoke City last term in the Championship confirmed Leeds’ return to the Premier League and, following a loss to Burnley, condemned the Blades to the play-offs.<\/p>\n

Amid the celebrations at Elland Road following promotion, Bamford led supporters in a chant that took aim at Wilder,<\/a> who was in charge at Bramall Lane last season before he was axed and later re-hired following the sacking of Ruben Selles<\/a>, all in the space of three months.<\/p>\n

Bamford got the tune going when he sung, ‘Du, du du…’ as Leeds supporters rounded it off with: “Wilder is a w*****.”<\/p>\n

In the aftermath of the chant, Wilder received a call from Bamford as well as Leeds boss Daniel Farke to cool any tension between all parties.<\/p>\n

“Had a conversation with Pat yesterday and I’ve no issue at all with it,” Wilder said.<\/p>\n

“I’m not sure about the words used from a fellow pro, but I appreciated and respected him giving me a call.<\/p>\n

“We had 20 minutes and the same again I spoke to Daniel [Farke] as well yesterday and had a half-hour chat with him and he is a super guy, a top guy.<\/p>\n

“They are a top team and a top football club and like I said I’m a big boy. When I was playing we used to give it and take it and that’s part and parcel of the game at every level, even on a Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

“I have absolutely no issue. I am cool with it and I said that to Pat.”<\/p>\n

Bamford, a one-time England international, joins the Blades with the club in dire need of extra firepower.<\/p>\n

After 15 fixtures, Wilder’s side sit 22nd in the Championship and are three points from safety.<\/p>\n

The Blades have also scored just 11 goals, the fewest of the 24 teams in the second tier.<\/p>\n

It represents an alarming decline given the South Yorkshire outfit were 15 minutes away from returning to the Premier League,<\/a> only to concede twice to Sunderland in last season’s Championship play-off final.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Patrick Bamford has found a new home, albeit temporarily.
