A Birmingham man who raped and beat a woman with a baseball bat has been convicted.<\/p>\n

Simon Tang attacked his victim- a sex worker- in a car park in Birmingham<\/a> Street, Walsall<\/a>, on 5 May.<\/p>\n

During the brutal assault, he repeatedly hit her with a baseball ball which he retrieved from the boot of his car.<\/p>\n

The woman suffered extensive bruising to her legs and head.<\/p>\n

She bravely went to West Midlands Police<\/a> and informed them of the brutal ordeal she had been subjected to.<\/p>\n

Specially-trained officers supported throughout her recovery and worked with her to put together a case.<\/p>\n

Tang, 56, was tracked down, arrested and convicted of two counts of rape, possessing an offensive weapon and actual bodily harm at Birmingham Crown Court.<\/p>\n

Tang, of Weoley Castle Road, Birmingham, will be sentenced on January 30.<\/p>\n

DS Morgan Colley, from the investigation team, said: \u201cI would like to commend the bravery of the woman in this case as without her support we would not have been able to secure a positive outcome at court.<\/p>\n
