{"id":568481,"date":"2025-11-13T21:57:11","date_gmt":"2025-11-13T21:57:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/568481\/"},"modified":"2025-11-13T21:57:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T21:57:11","slug":"hackers-use-anthropics-ai-model-claude-once-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/568481\/","title":{"rendered":"Hackers use Anthropic\u2019s AI model Claude once again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Anthropic announced on Thursday that Chinese state-backed hackers used the company\u2019s AI model Claude to automate roughly 30 attacks on corporations and governments during a September campaign, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/tech\/ai\/china-hackers-ai-cyberattacks-anthropic-41d7ce76\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reporting from the Wall Street Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Anthropic said that up to 80% to 90% of the attack was automated with AI, a level higher than previous hacks. It occurred \u201cliterally with the click of a button, and then with minimal human interaction,\u201d Anthropic\u2019s head of threat intelligence Jacob Klein told the Journal. He added: \u201cThe human was only involved in a few critical chokepoints, saying, \u2018Yes, continue,\u2019 \u2018Don\u2019t continue,\u2019 \u2018Thank you for this information,\u2019 \u2018Oh, that doesn\u2019t look right, Claude, are you sure?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">AI-powered hacking is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/2\/14\/24072706\/microsoft-openai-cyberattack-tools-ai-chatgpt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">increasingly common<\/a>, and so is the latest strategy to use AI to tack together the various tasks necessary for a successful attack. Google spotted Russian hackers using large-language models to generate commands for their malware, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/links\/8836598\/type\/dlg\/https:\/\/cloud.google.com\/blog\/topics\/threat-intelligence\/threat-actor-usage-of-ai-tools\" rel=\"sponsored noopener\" target=\"_blank\">company report<\/a> released on November 5th.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">For years, the US government has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/tech\/ai\/china-is-stealing-ai-secrets-to-turbocharge-spying-u-s-says-00413594?mod=article_inline\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">warned that China was using AI<\/a> to steal data of American citizens and companies, which China has denied. Anthropic told the Journal that it is confident the hackers were sponsored by the Chinese government. In this campaign, the hackers stole sensitive data from four victims, but as with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/ai-artificial-intelligence\/766435\/anthropic-claude-threat-intelligence-report-ai-cybersecurity-hacking\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previous hacks<\/a>, Anthropic did not disclose the names of the targets, successful or unsuccessful.
