A teenager has been sentenced after stabbing a 17-year-old at a college near Birmingham city centre.<\/p>\n

The emergency services were called to Summer Row, at around 3.30pm on September 10, where they found the victim with knife wounds.<\/p>\n

He was taken to hospital, and thankfully his injuries were not life-threatening.<\/p>\n

An investigation was launched and, after speaking to dozens of people who were at the scene and saw what happened, police established the stabbing was linked to an argument between two groups earlier in the day.<\/p>\n

A trawl of CCTV was carried out to identify who was involved and a 17-year-old boy was arrested.<\/p>\n

He was subsequently charged with wounding with intent, and possession of an offensive weapon.<\/p>\n

The defendant, who can\u2019t be named because of his age, pleaded guilty and was sentenced at Birmingham<\/a> Crown Court last Thursday (6 November) to two years and ten months in a Young Offender Institution.<\/p>\n

Inspector Michael Wright, from the Birmingham Organised Crime and Gangs Team, said: \u201cWe work hard with young people in Birmingham and across the West Midlands to educate them on the dangers of carrying a weapon \u2013 and sadly this is a clear reminder of the consequences it can have.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe boy that was hurt could easily have been more seriously injured, and I am pleased that our investigation has led to the offender being sentenced for his actions.\u201d<\/p>\n

One person commented \u2018we all got evacuated\u2019.<\/p>\n
