Midlands Metro backs national pedestrian safety campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The initiative forms part of a wider national safety drive led by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lrssb.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Light Rail Safety and Standards Board (LRSSB).<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In partnership with the LRSSB, Metro is launching the \u2018Two Lines = STOP\u2019 campaign, which carries a message encouraging people to stay alert and be aware of their surroundings near tram tracks.<\/p>\n<p>Graphics and signage have been put up across the Metro network, including on tram shelters, posters, and dedicated safety signage and have been designed to stand out and grab attention.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony Stanley, Metro\u2019s head of Operations and Safety, said: \u201cWhile trams in the West Midlands continue to maintain an excellent safety record, raising public awareness, especially among pedestrians, is one of the most effective ways to further reduce the risk of accidents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to support this national campaign by the LRSSB, as safety is always our top priority.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This initiative also reflects the strength of collaboration across the wider light rail sector to ensure that trams remain one of the safest forms of public transport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" tram networks in the country.<\/p>\n<p>LRSSB Chief Executive Carl Williams said: \u201cExtensive research has shown that pedestrian inattention presents a particular challenge for operators.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In response, our campaign graphics have been designed to catch the eye of members of the public, standing out from signage they see every day and may no longer notice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the key message remains the same, the campaign material we\u2019ve developed can be tailored to the requirements of individual networks, and we are delighted that Metro
