A boy of 17 was stabbed in Birmingham city centre last night, with a boy, 14 arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and three 18 year-olds arrested on suspicion of wounding<\/p>\n

A 14 -year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing incident in Birmingham city centre. West Midlands Police<\/a> reported that the incident occurred near the Bull sculpture outside the Bullring around 8pm yesterday, Thursday, November 13.<\/p>\n

It marks yet another knife attack in the area in recent days<\/a>. The victim, 17, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening or life-changing. The police arrested a 14-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted murder. Additionally, three 18 year olds were taken into custody on suspicion of wounding and a 22-year-old man was held on suspicion of assisting an offender.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the police said: “We’ve arrested four teenagers after a boy aged 17 was stabbed in Birmingham city centre.<\/p>\n

“We were called to disorder outside the Bullring, near The Bull statue, just after 8pm yesterday. A boy aged 17 was taken to hospital after being stabbed, but thankfully the injuries were not life-threatening or life changing.”, reports Birmingham Live<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“We carried out urgent CCTV and witness enquiries and arrested five people overnight.<\/p>\n

“A boy aged 14 has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, while three 18-year-olds were arrested on suspicion of wounding.<\/p>\n

“A man aged 22 has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All remain in custody this morning.”<\/p>\n

This incident occurred less than a week after Katie Fox, 34, was fatally stabbed at a bus stop in the city centre. A man has since been charged with her murder.<\/p>\n

In early October, two 17 year old lads were stabbed in separate incidents outside Birmingham’s flagship Primark within a week.<\/p>\n

Chief Inspector Vicki Stott, of Birmingham Police, commented on last night’s incident: “This was an unacceptable and violent attack in the heart of the city centre, and it’s lucky the boy was not more seriously injured.<\/p>\n

“We worked flat out overnight with neighbourhood officers, CCTV operators and other specialist officers working together to identify and arrest five people as part of the investigation.<\/p>\n

“We will not tolerate knife violence in the city centre, and we have extra patrols running as we go into the weekend.”<\/p>\n
