But soon the capital is about to get even more cinematic \u2013 literally \u2013 as plans have been revealed to build a huge filmmaking neighbourhood in the north of the city. And the first images of what it look like have just been released.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Back in March 2025, the blockbuster <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/news\/north-london-is-getting-a-new-1-billion-neighbourhood-devoted-to-movie-making-032825\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plans to build the brand-new Camden Film Quarter were first announced<\/a>. Now this \u2019hood dedicated to the silver screen is a step closer to coming to fruition, as its developer, Yoo Capital,\u00a0has submitted planning permission to start building.<\/p>\n<p>Yoo Capital\u00a0(the same folk behind west London\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/news\/why-is-olympias-1-3-billion-redevelopment-proving-so-controversial-041624\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Olympia<\/a>) has submitted plans to Camden Council to build what is essentially going to be the UK\u2019s answer to Hollywood. In the \u00a31 billion proposal, the real-estate investment firm wants to transform\u00a0under-used\u00a0industrial land in\u00a0Kentish Town\u00a0into a purpose-built district for film production, with homes, green spaces and education facilities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"119f7c1f-da10-a5c0-7492-c9bddc8b666e\" class=\"photo lazy inline\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"lazy-embed\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1763122708_897_image.webp.webp\" alt=\"Render of a block of flats with a green park in Camden Film Quarter\" data-caption=\"\" data-credit=\"Image: Places for People\" data-width-class=\"\" data-image-id=\"106342979\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\nImage: Places for People&#13;<\/p>\n<p>At the moment, the plan\u00a0wants to provide\u00a0around 500 new homes (50 percent of which will be affordable), 11 state of the art film and television studios, new creative workspaces, public parks, and education facilities in partnership with the National Film and\u00a0 Television School (NFTS) and the London Screen Academy (LSA).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The film studios, designed by Camden based architects SPPARC and to be managed and operated by Oxygen Studios, will introduce a \u2018pioneering\u2019 vertical studio model that\u00a0will allow\u00a0production stages to stack efficiently, maximising the limited urban space.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"41e8e5d5-2934-2b6d-5625-9e081d53bf47\" class=\"photo lazy inline\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"lazy-embed\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1763122716_2_image.webp.webp\" alt=\"Render of a block of flats in the Camden Film Quarter\" data-caption=\"\" data-credit=\"Image: Places for People\" data-width-class=\"\" data-image-id=\"106342981\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\nImage: Places for People&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Lloyd Lee, co-founder and managing partner of Yoo Capital, said: \u2018Camden Film Quarter represents a bold new chapter for London\u2019s creative industries &#8211; a place where storytelling, innovation, and community come together.
