Travellers are occupying a Birmingham park after scores of vehicles descended over the weekend.<\/p>\n

Around 17 caravans and other motors are located at Parkdale Park, just off Longbridge Lane in West Heath<\/a>, near Longbridge.<\/p>\n

The temporary camp surrounds a basketball court, which is yards from Albert Bradbeer Primary School.<\/p>\n

Neighbours said the group arrived at the end of the Easter holidays.<\/p>\n

The convoy was not as big as last year.<\/p>\n

Travellers were pictured at the same site last June.<\/p>\n

Up to 30 caravans and vehicles were spotted at the park for a number of days.<\/p>\n

The council said there were alternative sites for travellers in the city.<\/p>\n

“Birmingham City Council<\/a> is committed to actively protecting its land and will take steps to recover this land where unauthorised encampments encroach upon it,” the authority said.<\/p>\n

“The council has useable transit sites and plots for use by the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller community \u2013 which is in line with Government policy.<\/p>\n
