Hundreds of people were evacuated from Lapland Manchester on Friday due to Storm Claudia. Organisers say that “high speed winds and increasing severe weather<\/a> forecast” posed safety risks to the public resulting in the closure of the site.<\/p>\n

Guests who were set to visit the event have been told to contact the company directly to reschedule their visits.<\/p>\n

This week was the grand opening of the Christmas<\/a> themed attraction at Capesthorne Hall, Cheshire<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Lapland UK said: “Due to the severe weather conditions caused by Storm Claudia, we have made the difficult decision to close the Lapland site in Manchester today.<\/p>\n

“This afternoon, guests on site were evacuated as a pre-cautionary measure due to high speed winds and increasing severe weather forecasts. The safety of our visitors and staff is paramount, and we cannot operate while there is any risk of injury to the public.<\/p>\n

“Any families who held tickets for today will be contacted directly by the Lapland Guest Relations team to reschedule their visit, and we look forward to re-opening as soon as it is safe to do so.”<\/p>\n

Storm Claudia has seen heavy rain and strong wind batter much of the UK throughout Friday.<\/a><\/p>\n
