Heavy rain, strong winds and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/weather\/storm-claudia-live-updates-met-32871884\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">widespread disruption<\/a> across Wales have led to the suspension of all services on the line for the remainder of Friday evening, with disruption expected to last throughout Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"walesonline\">Limited rail replacement services will operate where possible between Hereford, Shrewsbury and Newport. While these services are intended to support travel to and from the rugby, they will run with limited capacity and Transport for Wales says it is unable to guarantee return journeys.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"walesonline\">Consequently, passengers are being urged to consider alternative travel options. <strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">For the biggest stories in Wales first, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/newsletter-preference-centre\/?view=Solus&amp;mailingListId=aa0abd38-0db5-4492-99f3-e73baecff682&amp;utm_source=solusarticle\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">sign up to our daily newsletter<\/a> here<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"walesonline\">Network Rail has also closed the section of the Marches Line following advice from Natural Resources Wales. This was due to several sites seeing varying scales of flooding, with water levels not expected to fall until Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"walesonline\">Passengers with valid tickets can travel at no extra cost with Avanti, CrossCountry and Great Western Railway, and tickets for today and tomorrow can be used for travel on Monday, November 17. <strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/sport\/rugby\/rugby-news\/wales-v-japan-road-closures-32871682\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">For everything you need to know about travel and times, for tomorrow&#8217;s International match, click here.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"walesonline\">Nick Millington, Network Rail&#8217;s Western route director, said: &#8220;We&#8217;re doing everything we can to mitigate the impact of Storm Claudia to the railway, including placing extra staff at key locations across the network, who will be ready to respond if they\u2019re required.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"walesonline\">&#8220;We ask passengers to check before travelling on Friday and into the weekend, particularly if they are visiting <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/cardiff\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Cardiff<\/a> Principality Stadium for the rugby, to take extra care and allow plenty of time to complete their journeys.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/0_m4-rainJPG.jpg\" alt=\"Cars driving on the M4 in rain\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Horrendous driving conditions on the M4 on Friday evening<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"walesonline\">Marie Daly, chief operations officer for Transport for Wales, added: &#8220;The safety of our customers and our colleagues is our absolute priority.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"walesonline\">&#8220;While the rain is predicted to ease on Saturday, we will still be dealing with the impact on Friday\u2019s storm and high water levels may mean that it&#8217;s not possible to run services safely.
