The gas company responsible for ‘disruptive’ work on two roads that has caused long tailbacks says they have fully reopened.<\/p>\n

The A34 Kingsway and A560 Gatley Road will be open in all directions, say Cadent Gas.<\/p>\n

Work this month as caused severe delays at the notoriously busy junction in Stockport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The junction serves the M60<\/a> motorway, both clockwise and anti-clockwise, and is also one of the main routes south of Manchester towards Cheshire.<\/p>\n

Since November 3, two lanes of the southbound A34 have been closed following the discovery of a gas leak needing ‘urgent repair’.<\/p>\n

The three-lane carriageway was reduced to just one lane, with drivers only allowed to continue straight on or turn left. The through-road between Cheadle<\/a> and Gatley was also closed, with drivers in both directions only able to turn left onto the A34.<\/p>\n

Junction three of the M60, just 300 metres from the crossroads, was also shut to prevent tailbacks, putting pressure on the busy network and pushing traffic onto other junctions and A roads.<\/p>\n

However, this evening, Cadent provided an update that the traffic management for the gas main repair work was removed at around 8pm today (November 14).<\/p>\n

A spokesperson said: “We are pleased to confirm that the existing traffic management associated with this gas main repair work will be removed at around 8pm today (14th November). This means no ongoing road closures.<\/p>\n

“Although the M60 slip roads exits reopened late last week, and the lane closures on A34 Kingsway (southbound) changed to two lanes being open instead of only one, the A560 Gatley Road was closed where it meets A34 Kingsway (heading from Cheadle).<\/p>\n

“It is this traffic management, which was needed to enable the repair of a gas main, which will be removed this evening.<\/p>\n

“We still have work to complete – but this is mostly in the footpaths.
