A tree came down on a bungalow as Storm Claudia brought strong winds to the region.<\/p>\n
Images sent to the M.E.N. showed a tree uprooted and coming down on a house in Oldham<\/a> tonight.<\/p>\n Earlier, residents were evacuated from homes in Bollington, Cheshire, after a tree fell on properties and brought down power lines.<\/p>\n The storm has also affected the regions’ transport networks, with trains and Metrolink<\/a> services disrupted by fallen trees.<\/p>\n Join the Manchester Evening News <\/strong>WhatsApp<\/strong> group <\/strong>HERE<\/a><\/p>\n Storm Claudia is expected to subside overnight, with more rain forecast tomorrow for Greater Manchester but less strong winds predicted.<\/p>\n ‘High speed winds and increasing severe weather<\/a> forecast’ led to the closure of Lapland Manchester, with bosses saying the stormy weather posed safety risks to the public.<\/p>\n In addition, there are now three flood alerts in place across the region.<\/p>\n Along with the two put in place earlier today on the River Mersey near Tameside<\/a> and areas including areas near Bramhall<\/a>, Stockport<\/a>, Sale<\/a>, Altrincham<\/a> and Urmston<\/a>, there is now a flood alert for the River Bollin catchment, including Knutsford, Wilmslow<\/a>, Macclesfield<\/a> and Bollington.<\/p>\n Flooding is possible in these areas due to rising river levels.<\/p>\n Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads around the Rivers Bollin, Dean and Pedley, Birkin and Mobberley Brooks and their tributaries.<\/p>\n
