Fire service bosses have revealed how crews have responded to disruption caused by Storm Claudia.<\/p>\n

Winds of up to 60mph have battered the region, with heavy rain also leading to flood warnings in some areas.<\/p>\n

Tonight, the M.E.N. received images of a tree coming down on a house in Oldham<\/a>. Also in Oldham<\/a>, part of the Elk Mill retail park<\/a> has been closed off for safety reasons after the strong winds brought some tiles loose.<\/p>\n

There has been disruption on the trains, with services between Piccadilly and Manchester Airport<\/a> suspended due to a fallen tree on the line.<\/p>\n

The same issue is causing problems on the Bury<\/a> and Rochdale<\/a> Metrolink<\/a> lines. It is expected to take most of the weekend to repair damage caused between Bury and Whitefield<\/a> stations.<\/p>\n

There is currently no service between Westwood and Newton<\/a> Heath and Moston<\/a> stations because of a tree coming on the overhead line.<\/p>\n

Earlier the M.E.N. also received images of a tree having fallen in the road near Chorlton<\/a> park in south Manchester.<\/p>\n

Tonight, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service provided the M.E.N. with details of their involvement in incidents related to Storm Claudia.<\/p>\n

Firefighters have throughout the day been called out to 33 incidents related to a ‘dangerous structure’, such as the incident at Elk Mill retail park.<\/p>\n

North West fire control have received 55 calls for weather<\/a> related incidents such as trees falling in the road.<\/p>\n

But the fire service said fire crews have not been called out to any of these incidents, with residents instead being advised to contact local councils for further assistance.<\/p>\n

The control centre reported an influx of calls today due to the storm, especially in the north and east of Greater Manchester.<\/p>\n
