{"id":570820,"date":"2025-11-14T23:18:19","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T23:18:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/570820\/"},"modified":"2025-11-14T23:18:19","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T23:18:19","slug":"germany-not-good-in-2026-qualifying-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/570820\/","title":{"rendered":"Germany &#8216;not good&#8217; in 2026 qualifying win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nick Woltemade has said Germany \u201cconceded many dangerous situations\u201d as Luxembourg threatened to take a shock first-half lead against the four-time World Cup winners and damage their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 finals.<\/p>\n<p>St Pauli winger Danel Sinani went close twice either side of Aiman Dardari \u2013 who also plays in the Bundesliga for Augsburg \u2013 shooting just wide during the early stages, with Germany perhaps fortunate to reach the interval goalless.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe knew Luxembourg can play football,\u201d Newcastle striker Woltemade told RTL (via <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/iMiaSanMia\/status\/1989453274508911011\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Bayern &amp; Germany<\/a>) after scoring both goals in Die Mannschaft\u2019s 2-0 win.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone admitted at half-time that the first half was not good. We were then significantly better, with more control and more chances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Luxembourg vs Germany: Woltemade satisfied<\/p>\n<p>Woltemade struck from Leroy Sane\u2019s cross and Ridle Baku\u2019s pass to ensure Germany will reach the tournament in the US, Canada and Mexico automatically if they avoid defeat at home to Slovakia on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe second half was better,\u201d Woltemade said, criticising \u201ca lot of back and forth\u201d during the first period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were more precise and got the goals we needed. At this point, the most important thing is the three points.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Woltemade, 23, has scored in successive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.101greatgoals.com\/football\/internationals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">internationals<\/a>, having netted the only goal away to Northern Ireland in qualifying on October 13.<\/p>\n<p>Slovakia won at home to Northern Ireland in second-half added time on Friday and beat Germany 2-0 in Bratislava in their opening game of the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>2026 World Cup playoffs dates<\/p>\n<p>The top team from each of the 12 European Qualifier groups proceeds automatically to the finals, which will be expanded to 48 teams.<\/p>\n<p>The 12 runners-up in each group will join four<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uefa.com\/uefanationsleague\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Nations League<\/a> teams in the play-offs, which will be drawn from pots based on teams\u2019 records during the campaign and take place on March 26 and 31 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The games will comprise single-leg semi-finals and finals, with the draw for the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fifa.com\/en\/tournaments\/mens\/worldcup\/canadamexicousa2026\/articles\/match-schedule-fixtures-results-teams-stadiums\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> World Cup finals<\/a> taking place in December 2025.
