\n\tA cause of death has been determined for Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/a> musical director Cleto Escobedo III<\/a> after he died at age 59<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe talk show\u2019s bandleader died of cardiogenic shock, according to his death certificate, limiting the heart\u2019s ability to pump enough blood to keep him alive.<\/p>\n

\n\tUnderlying causes included vasodilatory shock, disseminated intravascular coagulation and alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver, according to TMZ<\/a>, with contributing factors like sepsis, graft versus host disease, immunosuppressed, chronic kidney disease and pneumonia.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter missing an episode<\/a> last week of his ABC<\/a> talk show over a \u201cpersonal matter,\u201d Kimmel paid a heartfelt tribute<\/a> to his friend on-air upon his return. As of Tuesday, Kimmel has taken the rest of the week off<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cEarly this morning, we lost a great friend, father, son, musician and man, my longtime bandleader Cleto Escobedo III,\u201d he announced on Instagram. \u201cTo say that we are heartbroken is an understatement. Cleto and I have been inseparable since I was nine years old. The fact that we got to work together every day is a dream neither of us could ever have imagined would come true. Cherish your friends and please keep Cleto\u2019s wife, children and parents in your prayers.\u201d<\/p>\n
