Police locked down a busy road in Edinburgh<\/a> following an incident involving a ‘van and bike’ last night.<\/p>\n

Emergency services<\/a> were called to Clermiston Road, between Rannoch Road and Drum Brae Drive, after the alarm was raised at around 9pm on Friday, November 14.<\/p>\n

Although the exact nature of the incident is unclear at this time, one passer-by told Edinburgh Live<\/a> that debris from the bike was strewn across the road and a white van appeared to be damaged.<\/p>\n

It’s understood the bike was seen lying in the middle of the junction as a result.<\/p>\n

Police<\/a> attended and a number of cordons were put in place.<\/p>\n

Around half a dozen officers were at the scene for a number of hours carrying out investigations.<\/p>\n

Another concerned local said: “Police have locked down the street from outside the Leonardo Hotel. It looks like it’s a dirt bike on the ground and a white van in front of it.<\/p>\n

“You can see police taking pictures, they also have a camera set up. They were moving the white van as I went past at 11.30pm.<\/p>\n

“They have three cordons set up and there is about half a dozen officers and half a dozen vehicles in the area. It looks really serious.<\/p>\n

“They have pretty much had a lockdown for a couple of hours now, and they are starting to move the vehicles.<\/p>\n

“It’s hard to see if it’s a heavy-duty mountain bike or a dirt bike, and it’s lying there in the middle of the junction. I hope everyone is okay.”<\/p>\n
