People immediately began flocking to one particular vendor as the markets officially got underway<\/p>\n

As the Christmas Markets officially opened in Liverpool this morning, there was one stall that immediately saw queues of hungry visitors forming.<\/p>\n

The city’s markets got underway slightly after the scheduled 11am start time today <\/a>(Saturday), with crowds of people pouring onto St George’s Plateau to enjoy the early festive atmosphere and perhaps purchase a gift or two or enjoy some food and drink. The annual market<\/a> draws in thousands of visitors each year, and with the event running until Christmas Eve<\/a>, shoppers have plenty of time to visit and soak up the atmosphere.<\/p>\n

But there was one stall that saw queues forming straight away and it wasn’t for people looking to meet Santa – it was for baked potatoes.<\/a><\/p>\n

Not long after the market doors officially opened, scores of people could be waiting in line to buy a baked spud from an impressive looking stall that is the result of a collaboration between two high-profile potato men.<\/p>\n

The stall is being run by TikTok spud supremo Spud Man – real name Ben Newman – who had a successful summer pop up at the Bus Yard in Crosby<\/a>, drawing large crowds.<\/p>\n

Spud Man boasts four million followers on social media and boasts famous customers including Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.<\/p>\n

He previously confirmed that he would be joining forces with London Road legend John The Spud for a joint effort at this year’s Christmas Markets in the city.<\/p>\n

Announcing the news online, Spudman said: \u201cWe are doing a Christmas market. We were booked on for Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park but something came up.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is something I couldn\u2019t turn down for one reason, I will get to work with someone I admire very much, another potato man who has been in the game longer than me. We\u2019re coming to Liverpool. We\u2019re teaming up with John the Spud.\u201d<\/p>\n

And looking at the queues forming already, it appears the powerful potato pairing is already enticing customers.<\/p>\n

The ECHO counted at least 40 people in the queue for the stall just 45 minutes after the markets officially opened.<\/p>\n

Those looking to pick up a potato will pay \u00a36 for plain, \u00a37 for cheese, sweetcorn, Tuna Mayo, beans, chilli or coleslaw.<\/p>\n
